Web Development with Firefox

If your not already using the Firefox web browser for testing and developing your website's, you should seriously consider it.

The browser sports numerous free plug-ins that make web development much easier and faster. In addition there are numerous personal plug-ins that are worth installing to make life easier (i.e. local weather, world times, etc). Some of the our favorites are:

  • Firebug – excellent all round development tool.
    • FireFinder - Finds HTML elements matching CSS paths or XPATH expressions.
    • FirePicker - Excellent colour picker for FireBug.
  • ColorZilla – tool for selecting colours from your browser.
  • HTML Validator - validate your HTML against web standards.
  • YSlow - a nice tool from Yahoo! enabling you to see how long your pages elements take to load. It also gives some great advice on how to speed things up.
  • MeasureIt - measure the size of objects in your browser.
  • Pixlr Grabber - great screenshot grabber.
  • Web Developer - all in one excellent web development tool.

Do you have any favourite add-ons that you would like to share with us? If so, please let us know.
